“I’ve always been drawn to the aesthetic context of a place or structure. By stripping away the temporary and extraneous contents you are left with a kind of distorted unreality”
— Rory Gardiner
An exercise in functional minimalism, internationally acclaimed photographer Rory Gardiner approached me to develop a highly functional layout and type system that would streamlined the movement through his website prioritising the content of his portfolio.
Albert-Jan Pool's FF DIN was chosen to substitute the less legible Decima Mono, set a 11px with a line height of 1.7ems. For the logo-mark special attention was employed to reference FF DIN's characteristically high X-height and square-ish bowls and counters for a proportional and harmonious match between logomark and type palate.
